When it comes to making a difference, the motivation and enthusiasm of Memorial’s employees extends well past the average nine-to-five workday. As members of the Reach Out Club (ROC), more than 900 employees donate their expertise, financial assistance and free time to help improve the Memorial experience for patients, families and co-workers. “There’s a lot of exciting things happening with the Reach Out Club right now,” says ROC President Patty Tomaszewski. “This year, we’ve decided to focus on doing even more community outreach projects.” This focus led to ROC sponsorship of the 12th Annual Leprechaun Hunt©. While enjoying Irish dancing and great food, participants scoured 85 acres for hidden leprechaun statues hiding gifts between $50 and $1,500, and even a trip to Ireland. Reach Out Club members also took home prizes at this summer’s SHARE Classic Golf Outing including “longest drive,” “closest to the pin,” and “beat the pro!” Proceeds from both events benefited the SHARE Foundation, serving the needs of handicapped adults. To the ROC, “community” reaches around the world. More than 2,100 Landstuhl Regional Medical Center employees in Germany received care packages as a thank you to the men and women taking care of soldiers wounded in Iraq and Afghanistan. Reach Out Club Mission The mission of the Reach Out Club is to identify and foster projects that benefit and enhance the spirit of the Memorial family community. Reach Out Club members volunteer their time, talents and financial support to Memorial Hospital & Health System of South Bend. For more information about Memorial’s Reach Out Club, |
