HW! a hit from coast to coast

Kids at Imagine Children’s Museum in Seattle learn about the hazards of smoking, the HealthWorks! way.

They say that imitation is the greatest form of flattery. If so, Memorial’s HealthWorks! Kids’ Museum must be pretty impressive! Whether it’s specific programming, or the whole museum, communities from across the country look to HealthWorks! to set the bar for children’s health education.

After a brief visit to HW! earlier this year, Nancy Johnson, Executive Director of Imagine Children’s Museum in Seattle, Washington, was sold. After toying with the idea of adding health programming to their museum’s repertoire, Nancy and her team journeyed to HealthWorks! to see the magic first-hand.

“We think you have a really incredible staff in South Bend,” says Johnson. “We were welcomed with open arms. We just loved what they taught us.” After attending a workshop to learn the HW! style of teaching, the group bought the rights to teach five of HealthWorks! preschool and school age programs at the Imagine Children’s Museum.
“The response from both the students and the teachers has been more than positive,” says Johnson. “The kids love the oversized props, the music, the interaction and the fast pace. It’s been a really positive experience for us.”
