More than most, Tracy Reed-Case understands the unique needs of her special clients. Through her work as a certified massage therapist at the Memorial Regional Breast Care Center (MRBCC), Tracy helps reduce the anxiety, pain, fatigue and depression commonly found in breast cancer patients, while improving circulation and range of motion. As a woman who has undergone a bilateral mastectomy and breast reconstruction, she is uniquely qualified to address the questions and fears most women experience after a diagnosis of breast cancer. “Because I had breast reconstruction myself, I think it helps my clients,” says Reed-Case. “They can see that I’m healthy and happy, and that’s reassuring for them.” To help ensure that women have access to complimentary services well into the future, Tracy bequeathed funds in her will for the continuation of support services for cancer patients; services such as yoga, art therapy and massage. “I work with many women who have had breast cancer surgery,” says Reed-Case, “so this has been a healing experience for me as well.” In more ways than one, Tracy’s generosity will be felt for years to come. The MRBCC relies on donations from the Memorial Health Foundation. To help support the ongoing efforts of the Memorial Regional Breast Care Center, please call 574-647-2211. |
