- Total number of trauma patients: 878
- Total number of trauma patients admitted with major injuries: 199
- Sixty-four percent of trauma patients were transported from the scene
of injury. Other patients came from referring hospitals or from home.
- Air Angels transported 51 patients into MHSB. Twenty seven of these from
referring hospitals and 24 transported from the scene.
- Sixty-nine percent of admitted major trauma patients were male, with
an average age of 39.
- Motor vehicle-related collisions (car, motorcycle, moped,
ATV, go-cart, bicycle, and pedestrian) were the number one
cause of major trauma admissions (fifty-two percent). Forty-five
percent were from other causes (falls, assault/abuse, burns,
sports, machinery and animals). Three percent of all injuries
were penetrating (gunshot or stab wounds).
